Tax-Exempt Purchasing for Agencies, Districts & Organizations

If your organization is exempt from Washington sales tax, you can submit your exemption certificate to NOW Environmental and have tax removed from your training course registrations and testing orders.

Who qualifies

Sales tax exemption applies to organizations that hold valid exemption documentation. Our exempt clients typically include:

Government Agencies

Federal, state, tribal, county, and municipal agencies purchasing under an official exemption.

School Districts

Public school districts and educational institutions registering staff for AHERA and asbestos training.

Nonprofit Organizations

Qualifying nonprofits with current exemption documentation on file.

Resale Purchasers

Contractors and firms purchasing with a valid Washington reseller permit.

How to get set up

Submit your certificate before you place your first order so we can review and approve it in advance.

  1. Create your account

    Head to the account registration page and set up a login for your organization. Tax exemption is tied to your account, so it cannot be applied to a guest checkout.

  2. Submit your exemption certificate

    Once you are logged in, go to your Tax Exemption page, enter your organization name and exemption ID, and upload a copy of your certificate or reseller permit.

  3. We review your request

    Our team reviews every submission and approves or follows up with you by email. You can check your status any time on your Tax Exemption page.

  4. Check the tax-exempt box at checkout

    After approval, a tax-exempt option appears at checkout. Check it and sales tax is removed from that order. You control it order by order, so you can leave it unchecked on any purchase that is not exempt.

What to have ready

  • Your organization or agency name, exactly as it appears on your exemption paperwork
  • Your exemption ID, tax ID, or Washington reseller permit number
  • A copy of your certificate or permit (PDF, JPG, PNG, DOC, or DOCX)
  • The type of exemption you are claiming: government, educational, nonprofit, or resale

Ordering before your certificate is approved?

Sales tax will be charged at checkout until your exemption is approved. If your certificate is approved shortly after you order, contact us and we will refund the tax on that order.

To avoid this entirely, create your account and submit your certificate before you register for a course or place a testing order.
