Course Description
This training course is designed for individuals who will supervise asbestos abatement projects, including work associated with asbestos Work Class I and II. Certification is mandatory for anyone supervising asbestos removal work and serving as the competent person. The course provides practical instruction through lectures, demonstrations, and hands‑on training. Activities include protective clothing procedures, respirator inspection, containment practices, construction of decontamination facilities, and glovebag techniques. This course meets the requirements of EPA 40 CFR 763, OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101, and WAC 296‑65.
Washington State Experience Requirement (Important Notice)
Washington State requires all applicants for Asbestos Supervisor Certification to document a minimum of 1,600 hours of qualifying asbestos‑related work experience before enrolling in a Washington‑approved 40‑Hour Asbestos Supervisor Initial course.
- Experience must be verified by an employer using the official Affidavit of Experience form.
- Asbestos sampling, survey‑only work, or inspection‑only duties are not accepted by L&I as qualifying experience toward the 1,600‑hour requirement.
- Individuals who cannot provide proof of eligible experience hours are not eligible for Supervisor certification.
If a student completes this course but L&I does not approve their affidavit of hours, the agency will not issue a Supervisor certification. Instead, L&I will issue an Asbestos Worker card, provided the individual meets all Worker certification requirements.
Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy
Rescheduling / Missed Class
If you need to Reschedule or miss your class date, email us at jswitras@nowenvironmental.com, and we can reschedule you; your prepaid fees will carry over for 90 days. Please include which class date you would like to be rescheduled to. It is your responsibility to contact us for a reschedule; Now Environmental Services will not contact you after a missed class date.
* If you do not reschedule your class within that 90 days, all prepaid fees shall be forfeited.
SCHEDULING MISTAKE
If you signed up for the wrong class accidentally, we can assist you in making that correction before your intended class date. Just email us at jswitras@nowenvironmental.com; please include your order # and the class information to which you want to be switched. You will be expected to pay any increase to the amount of the class before the class’s start date. If the amount of the new class is less than the class you registered for, a refund of the difference will be deposited back to your payment method. Refunds can only be administered prior to the original registered class’s start date. Credit will be given towards another class if the mistake is identified during the course or after. The class credit will only be valid for 90 days.
